Zac Murphy, Brighton Grammar School

Final graduation speech after completing four terms.
Hi, my name is Zac Murphy. my time at Longford and Fraser is sadly coming to an end.

This Journey has taken me a long way and will help me in the years to come. There are plenty of lessons I will take with me into adulthood. These include important things like going the extra mile and the importance of building self-confidence.

However, the most powerful lesson for me was that you can’t be a leader until you can first lead yourself. This message really put into perspective the changes I was trying to make in my life by just starting at the person who could make a difference, myself.

I can’t begin to describe how positive I felt each Monday night. Each week was so much fun, the environment so encouraging and non-judgemental. It was a place where I felt comfortable just being myself. The fact my classmates were so supportive made it one of the most enjoyable things I did each week.

The Leader I aspire to be like is Giannis Antetokounmpo, The world champion NBA player from the Milwaukee Bucks. Not only is he a champion on the court he is an inspiring leader with how he has lived his life.

He and his family living on the streets on Athens, Greece his life could’ve gone in many directions some very negative.

He has not only turned himself into a successful sports person, but he is someone who is also winning in life with his strong devotion to his family and the fact he honours his deceased father before every game. His strong personal values extend to his on-going charitable donations to the under privileged in his hometown of Milwaukee and back in Greece.

Finally, I’d like to thank a couple of people. Firstly, my parents for encouraging me to put the things I have learnt at Longford and Fraser into practise.

Also, to Miss Anderson, thank you for making our classes the most enjoyable part of my week. It’s so obvious that you genuinely care about us and our futures. The lessons I have learnt will stay with me for the rest of my life.
